Paws for Thought

Animals, particularly dogs, seem to have a rapport with humans and have been proved to help reduce stress as well as promote positive emotions like love and care. Research shows that, unless you’re someone who really dislikes animals or is absolutely too busy to care for one properly, pets can provide excellent social support, stress relief, and other health benefits—perhaps more than people! A 2018 US study found trial participants benefited from a lowering of a previously high blood pressure by introducing a dog into their life. Alzheimers and cardio vascular diseases are amongst the other well-researched illnesses that appear to have notably improved following interaction with a four-legged furry friend. Having a dog around can literally help reduce stress, anxiety and loneliness whilst encouraging exercise and playfulness. If you're more of a cat person, then you'll be purfectly pleased to know that a 2011 cats protection league study found that a huge 87% of cat owners felt their feline friend had a positive impact on their wellbeing and ability to cope with everyday life.
